Your Professional Guide To Using Modern Color At Your Salon
Modern Color is the perfect alternative for Oxidative Color. Our vegan, clean, non-toxic and 100% non-damaging formula is free of ammonia, peroxide and harsh chemicals - ideal for clients with sensitive scalps and damaged, fragile hair. Plus, there’s no developer needed, so you can simplify inventory and streamline your services.
Always start with a swatch or strand test on a pinch of hair before applying all over.
For Maximum Color Vibrancy:
Give your client’s hair a break from harsh chemicals while nourishing their hair with a Modern Color Refresh & Repair Treatment to extend the period of time needed to permanently dye their hair again while still providing vibrant, professional results.
Apply on clean, dry hair by separating hair into sections and going layer by layer applying a generous amount of product. Leave on hair for 10 to 30 minutes depending on desired vibrancy. Rinse thoroughly, dry and style.
Modern Color is for all hair types, including hair extensions. Modern Color will start to fade after a few washes and can be re-applied as often as you would like to maintain vibrancy, repair damage, and nourish hair from scalp to ends.
Modern Color is semi-permanent, and 100% damage-free. Modern Color usually washes out of gray and natural hair/roots faster than the dyed hair.
For Quick Color-Boost Results:
Apply Modern Color as a revitalizing conditioning treatment after shampooing on wet hair for an Express Color Refresh Service. After shampooing, fully saturate hair with Modern Color and comb through wet hair for even distribution. Let sit 10-30 minutes depending on desired vibrancy. Rinse thoroughly, dry and style.
Toning & Color-Correcting With Modern Color:
Modern Color does not interfere with professional dyes and treatments. Do not mix Modern Color with professional dyes or developers. Instead, use as a pre-pigment filler or after dying to tone, adjust the shade, or amplify results for more nourished hair that is shiny, soft and vibrant.
Natural Hair & Gray Blending:
Modern Color was designed to boost color-treated hair and repair damage. Modern Color does not guarantee coverage for gray hair and natural roots. However, it can help blend them.
For best results, start with clean, dry hair. Let sit for up to 45 min, or do multiple applications to get desired results. Do not use any other shampoo or conditioner in between applications to allow Modern Color time to build.
Rinse thoroughly with cool water, dry and style.
Gray blending depends on the porosity of the hair, and not all grays will get blending/coverage using Modern Color.

All Modern Color shades are compatible with each other and can be mixed-and-matched to create custom shades.
How To Mix & Match Custom Colors:
Combine 2-3 colors using Modern Color’s Eco-Friendly Hair Coloring Bowl & Brush Set.
Suggested Ratios:
Suggested ratios are 25%, 50% or 75% per color when using 2 colors, but can be adjusted to fit your client’s needs depending on their base.
The shade you see in the bowl is slightly darker than it will appear on your hair. Always start with a swatch test before going all over.
Mixing 3 Colors To Create Pastels:
Modern Color recommends mixing 2 colors but 3 can be combined when using Platinum to create lighter, more pastel tones. For example, PLATINUM, HONEY & RED make a warm Strawberry Pink.
Customizing Blonde:
Adding Platinum to any natural-toned shade will make it a cooler, brighter, more ash tone.
Mixing HONEY + PLATINUM creates a warm Champagne, Buttery Blonde.

Directions For Use:
Use to create extra volume during blowouts, touch up oily hair, and as an upsell for clients to refresh their hair on the go.
Pull down sleeve and pat brush directly onto roots to freshen and volumize hair. Go in layer by layer if needed and gently massage scalp with fingertips to distribute product evenly. Air dry. Use a wipe to clean brush.
When product is finished, keep brush and simply replace powder capsule with a new capsule with your next order. Recycle original powder capsule.

One 5-minute application should last a fews weeks, gradually fading over time with regular shampoo. For higher-intensity, longer-lasting color, leave product on for approximately 10-15 minutes before rinsing and apply one to two times a week.
